Thank you so much for supporting the Feed My Starving Children MobilePack Event in July! It is only because of your generosity that the meals were packed and shipped.
You packed a total of 277,992 meals by 6:00 pm on Saturday evening. Immediately following the event, a semi-trailer left Lee's Summit loaded with 39 pallets of Manna Packs headed to Nicaragua with enough food to feed 762 children one meal a day, every day of the week, for an entire year. We are thankful for your help in accomplishing that work!
Many of you also helped support this packing event financially. You either donated personally, or organized a fundraiser. As you know, each meal cost 17 cents to produce. Some quick math tells you that the total cost of the food you packed was over $47,000. The majority of the funds required to cover that cost were raised, but we fell short of our total needed by approximately $4,500. Our last payment is due by September 14 and we again need the assistance of our volunteer team. Here is how you can help out.
Any monetary donation, regardless of the amount, would be a tremendous help. If you are able to make a substantial donation, it would help ensure we will have an sizable event again next year. If you are able to give a few dollars by giving up a lunch or a few cups of coffee, we recognize your sacrificial gift, and consider that a great blessing as well. It is through many people giving what they are able that we can make our goal and help feed starving and malnourished children that are dependent on the meals you packed. There are no "deep pockets" underwriting this event. The great majority of donations come from people who served. We are praying for the Lord's will in this matter. He will lead His people in the way He would have us go.

July 8, 2010 Update
On Tuesday, July 20th from 11:00 to 6:00, FeedKidsKC will be passing out coupons at the Lee's Summit Culvers to raise donations for the July 23-24th food packing event. KLJC 92.3 will be hosting a remote broadcast onsite from 3:00 to 6:00. Please drop by and enjoy some great food and hear great Christian music while helping support FeedKidsKC!
June 19, 2010 Update
We need to pack even more meals!
FMSC has informed us that they want us to pack even more meals than planned. They also know where the meals packed this July will be shipped: Nicaragua. Nicaragua is an impoverished country, with nearly half of its residents living in poverty. Unfortunately, the recent earthquake in Haiti meant that food normally designated for Nicaragua was diverted to help there.
To meet the needs of the Nicaraguan children, FMSC has asked us to increase our goal to include an entire container of food, more than our already staggering goal of 250,000 meals…approximately 275,000 meals.
As you can see from our donation meter on this page, we are already behind in our original goal. We need your partnership more than ever, in packing and donating, to make this event a success.
Feed Kids KC is a site dedicated to keeping the Kansas City community informed about upcoming mobile food-packing events for the organization Feed My Starving Children. Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization committed to feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit. Their approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals formulated specially for starving children, and then ship the meals to more than 60 countries around the world.
On July 23-24th, Feed My Starving Children will hold a mobile packing event for the Kansas City community at Summit Woods Baptist Church in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Over 500 volunteers will be needed to hand-pack a minimum of 250,000 meals.
We invite you, your church, organization, or club, to join us in this effort. Your help as a volunteer food-packer or donor will make a big impact in little hearts. Just 17 cents provides one nourishing meal, $17 provides 100, and $100 provides nearly 600 meals. Volunteer sign-ups will begin in June, please see our registration page to be contacted during our volunteer registration time, or visit our donate tab to make a donation to help purchase meals for this event.
To register large groups such as church, Cub Scouts, or clubs, please see our volunteer page, where you can find information on registration as well as information about the food that you will be packing. We will begin assigning time slots for food-packers beginning June 1st.
It is our hope and vision to provide ongoing opportunities to participate in this outreach, even past our July 23 and 24th packing event. Please consider joining us in making this a successful, on-going opportunity for our Kansas City community.
